JAZZ
Jazz is a very popular dance style and is a form of dance that can showcase a dancer's individual style and originality. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. In order to excel in jazz, we encourage our RDA dancers to participate in ballet as it improves balance and grace needed for jazz. Within our jazz classes we learn a variety of different styles such as commercial jazz, funk, slow modern and contemporary. Generally the senior groups get to have a taste of all these styles. From ages 10yrs+, the students participate in eisteddfods and other performances through out the year.

TAP
Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps and is characterised by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels. The dancers use their feet like drums to create these rhythmic patterns and timely beats. Classes work by age group with a focus on learning single tap steps, then incorporating the steps into series of combinations followed by creating a dance routine.

BALLET
Ballet is a classical dance form with grace and precision as well as employing formalised steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement.
The ballet classes at RDA focuses on correct technique, body alignment, positions of arms and feet and core strength. Ballet starts from as little as 3yrs old with students beginning with barre work then progress through to leaps and pointe work.

CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of many dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements and stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. This style focuses on floor work, using gravity to pull the dancers down to the floor as well as strange movement. This dance genre is done in bare feet and is a very popular style of dance which everyone thoroughly enjoys to learn.

FUNK
Our Funk classes are offered to students aged 7 - 13yrs. These classes consists of more modern and upbeat movements performed to funkier, fun music. These classes are filled with fun and energy and the style offered at RDA is in between jazz and hip hop.

HIP HOP
Hip hop is much more than a way of moving to hip hop music and is a lifestyle that includes its own language, music, wardrobe style and style of dance. In our hip hop classes, Miss Sharnae incorporates old school hip hop and updated styles. Within her dance routines, she includes many styles such as general hip hop, popping, locking, whacking and tutting. This class is filled with a wide range of personalities, energy and style. Don't be afraid to show your inner-attitude within your dances.

SINGING
Singing classes teach breathing and warm exercises through to advanced singing. In our jazz classes, we incorporate singing as we may perform a song and dance routine.  There are limited spaces available for private Tuition if desired.  $15 per lesson.

DRAMA
Drama at RDA provides students with ways to explore new dimensions of a changing world. Language plays a critical role in drama and contributes to developing the students' competence and confidence in English and public speaking. Drama explores feelings and knowledge and ideas. Students learn how to improvise, become a character, reflect on their decisions and feel comfortable to be able to come out of their shell. This is a fun and enjoy class where students make friends and learn a variety of drama games and activities to improve and enhance their acting skills. Their talents are showcased at our end of year concert where our drama students will perform a short a play/scene.

MUM AND BUB
Mum and bub class is for all the little people who love to dance from age 1.5yrs - 3yrs.  They generally have no inhibitions when it comes to being on stage.  RDA has the group perform at the concert as their cuteness has a huge impact to the audience.  They are just starting to learn technique and coordination with emphasis  put on fun and learning to take direction from their teacher. It is required that one parent joins in with their child in this class.  This is a pay as you go class as we understand little people and know it isn't always going to be a great day.

ADULT CLASSES
Whether you have or have not danced before it is never too late to join our chilled out (stress-free) tap or jazz classes that offer loads of fun. Routines are performed at our end of year concert. Both Men and Women are welcome to join this group with weekly lessons being held outside of work hours. Yes it is stressful and hard to find time for yourself when you have children but this is a great start for doing something just for yourself. GIVE IT A TRY!

PRIVATE LESSONS
Limited spaces are available for students to learn and perform solo work. If you express your interest to the principal then availability can be advised.  The students chosen to do solo work are expected to participate in a minimum of 2 Eisteddfods per year.  The teachers put a lot of hard work into choreographing routines along with weekly solo lessons, if the children are not committed with practising at home or dancing on stage then perhaps this isn't the right direction for them to take.  If no practise is completed at home, each week with the teacher is used up to remember routines as opposed to perfecting them.
